Sales Manager

Biopticon Corporation sells imaging equipment and software to preclinical oncology researchers. We are looking for a strong sales leader to join our entrepreneurial team. We are an early stage company with a fully-developed product suite, and a limited but established customer base among marquee customers in the preclinical oncology research space. In this position, you will build on and expand on our initial sales traction to rapidly expand our industry penetration. This is a commission-driven opportunity with an emerging company with significant potential upside opportunity.

Job Summary:
As Global Sales Manager, you will be a member of a small, entrepreneurial team and will be responsible for the entire scope of the sales process for the TumorImagerTM and TumorManagerTM products. You will work closely with the Scientific Founder and President of the company. You will have the opportunity to get involved in multiple aspects of the business, and will be expected to craft and execute a sales strategy as well as develop and implement marketing programs and participate in other aspects of company management. You will be responsible for lead generation, initial prospect evaluation and qualification, setting up and making sales calls and product demonstrations, presenting the company’s value proposition to multiple levels of decision makers, negotiating and closing sales, and post-sales customer account management.

As a successful candidate, you will be a high-energy sales executive who is comfortable juggling multiple priorities and managing your time in an unstructured setting. You’ll need to be familiar with the life sciences industry (big pharma, biotech, CRO, and university research departments). You will have a technology background and be comfortable demoing both a device and a software package to technicians, scientists, and executive management. You’ll need to be a self-starter, able to manage your own time and work without a lot of direct supervision. Finally, you’ll have a passion to pitch in to help build a small company and help recognize its full potential.

  • Present technical product demonstrations to customers.
  • Attend and speak at industry conferences and events to present the Biopticon products and represent the company.
  • Provide input and market intelligence into development of new products, services and competitive positioning.
  • Participate in finalizing contract terms and transition client services and implementation teams.
  • Travel to regional prospective client sites up to 50% of time.
  • Report and maintain prospective clients in corporate CRM database when available.
  • Participate in sales meetings via phone, in corporate office and off-site locations as required.

Experience and expertise in sales to scientific buyers and a “track record” of tangible success, including leadership and team collaboration/relationship-building/management is essential. You’ll need to be able to exercise sound business judgment. The position requires a high level of initiative and creativity. Additionally, you must be able to effectively prepare and manage meetings and presentations both personally and technically. Technology expertise must include Excel, Word and PowerPoint at a minimum. A life science background including exposure to the preclinical research area is highly desirable. Direct experience selling to preclinical oncology buyers is a plus.
